Straight-Fit Denim
A hand-drafted pair of straight jeans built from personal measurements in rigid denim.

This project focused on building the complete garment accurately from a hand-drafted pattern.
I drafted the paper pattern from personal measurements, cut the rigid denim and constructed the jeans from start to finish.
Development and construction
A concise study in denim construction and visible finishing.
I built curved front pockets, a zipper fly, waistband and belt loops. Contrast thread makes the pocket curves, fly, waistband and long seams visible parts of the design, and I completed the buttonhole by hand.
Shape: Kept the leg boxy and straight rather than closely fitted.
Pockets: Used curved front openings as a visible construction detail.
Topstitching: Selected contrast thread to emphasize the structure of the jeans.
Outcome
A complete wearable pair of jeans drafted on paper and constructed with a zipper fly and hand-sewn buttonhole.
